Welcome to the Tastes of the Mid West by the Mid West Food Industries Alliance.
The Mid West Food Industries Alliance Inc (MWFIA) is an Incorporated Association. MWFIA was established in 2019 and Incorporated in 2021.
The purpose of MWFIA is to help members market and promote their products under a recognised regional brand fostering sustainable business growth. We do this via the new Tastes of the Mid West regional food and beverage brand.
Our vision is to be a recognised food and beverage region known for its diverse products, and we strive to do this by being a viable industry led cluster that creates value and contributes to the growth and sustainability of the Mid West WA Food and Beverage industry and its associated tourism, hospitality and agrifood partners.

An initial gathering of food and beverage producers, along with key stakeholders to discuss the potential of creating a regional brand and food industry body. This was the start of the Mid West Food Industries Alliance (MWFIA) Inc.
With seed funding from Food Innovation Australia Limited (FIAL), MWFIA was developed into an Incorporated Association with an inaugural committee and Executive Officer.
Our first year of full operation saw the inaugural Mid West WA Food Marketplace in conjunction with the Shore Leave Festival, and the starting of growing the community and stakeholders in the region.
Our second and third year saw MWFIA grow across a number of events including further activations of the Marketplace, support to the State Budget Breakfast, hosting Chef Matthew Evans and Chef Will Meyrick into the region, and activating the Tastes of the Mid West at the Mid West Mingenew Expo. We worked with key partners such as the Mid West Development Commission (MWDC); the Central Regional TAFE (CRTAFE); and the Mid West Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MWCCI). New partnerships were also formed with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). We also won the Business Excellence Award for Excellence in Not For Profit 2024 and commenced a new Regional Collaboration funding partnership with DPRID.
Our fourth year has once again seen the activation of the Marketplace event in conjunction with the Shore Leave Festival, with new events such as the Kids in the Kitchen event with Chef Don Hancey. Work has been undertaken to build the new Tastes of the Mid West website and the development of the membership for MWFIA. Work has also continued on supporting our members to overcome challenges, while taking active steps to start conversations in the space of freight and meat industry security in the region.
The future is all about continuing to build the good long term governance and financial stability of MWFIA, while growing the regional brand of Tastes of the Mid West for all and working closely with our members, industry and stakeholders to continue to grow the opportunities of the Mid West.
MWFIA is led by a voluntary industry Management Committee and supported by a part time Executive Officer (EO). Our Comittee for 2025-2027 includes:
Our Annual General Meeting is generally held between May to June each year, and we warmly welcome interest from potential new Committee members or individuals who would like to make a contribution to the strategic direction of MWFIA.
